Why so quiet?

Posted in general on May 20th, 2010 by Roblob – 2 Comments

I haven’t posted anything in a month or so. Haven’t had much to say, really.

My father died a few weeks back. He succumbed to a serious illness in a matter of days and the whole thing sort of took me by surprise. I knew he was ill and we had made all sorts of arrangements with the inevitable in mind, but even the doctors thought he would have at least a year to go. But things didn’t work out that way.

So now I’ve had much to think about and a funeral to organize and gaming just hasn’t seemed that important. I haven’t really played much anything the past few weeks, much less felt like writing about it.

I just wanted to drop a few lines for those of you who have been following my blog and wondering about my absence. I’m sure I’ll be coming back to this blog in the near future, but I can’t really say just when. Until then, keep yourself safe and enjoy the summer.

Heading out on the highway

Sorry for not posting much lately, but I’ve been overly busy with the preparations for our month long vacation to USA. Planning and packing for the trip has been time consuming and with the whole family traveling it needs to be done properly.

My Eve time has been limited to organizing for a month long training (BC V) and setting up some R&D jobs to rack in some passive isk while I’m away. Research Project Management is definitely a pricey skill, but I will have four R&D agents working for me before tomorrow. According to my calculations that means about 2M isk per day in datacores. That would make me about 60M during our vacation, paying off the skill book and then some.

But that’s about it for now. I’ll report back to duty when I come home. This is me signing off for October. Fly safe!

Easter eggs

I’ve been visiting relatives for the Easter and as a bonus I caught a virulent stomach flu and I’m still feeling the effects of forced fasting. As a side note, driving five hours in a car with sick kids is very interesting…

The bottom line is that I haven’t played anything for the past week. I’m a bit anxious to get back to Eve, but it all comes down to whether I’m awake or asleep in the evening. And at the moment it’s bit of a coin toss. We shall see.

Blog: Allow me to reintroduce the blog

I realized yesterday that this blog isn’t (anymore) so much about game design as I originally thought it would be. Currently it’s pretty much a Eve Online blog, but knowing myself, there’s probably going to be more to this than just Eve.

Anyway, in order to make the blog more descriptive I changed it to a new address (gamedev -> gameblog) and tweaked things a little. Hopefully Google won’t bite me for this.

Busy, busy, busy

This has been one crazy ass week. I’ve actually sold the apartment we lived in prior to building our new house and it has been a bit of a wild ride.

On Monday I was getting somewhat distressed by the fact that the apartment wasn’t getting any bids and after recalculating the debt it became apparent that we needed to get it rented pronto. After some anguish and loan renegotiation our real estate agent suddenly calls up and says that he has got a bid on the apartment. It wasn’t as much as we had hoped for, but it’s still enough for me.

As the economy continues to go down the toilet and I’m not sure how bad things will get before it gets better, I’m really happy with the deal in the end. It’s one burden off my back.

Anyway, as you can imagine I’ve had a pretty busy week. Hopefully I’ll find some more time soon to get going on the “Holy Grail” process or some other game design topic.

Edit: Oh yeah, also my hard drive crashed. Thank god for backups…
